2-methyl-3-nitrobenzoic acid can be used as the intermediate of methoxyphenozide. Methoxamozide is a new type of specific benzoyl hydrazide low toxicity insecticide, which has highly selective insecticidal activity against lepidoptera pests, mainly contact killing, and has certain internal absorption. 2-methyl-3-nitrobenzoic acid can also be used as the starting material of lenalidomide. Lenalidomide is an upgraded drug of thalidomide for hyperplastic syndrome. It has effects on many biological pathways in cells. It is a new type developed by Celgene Company of the United States. It was approved by the FDA for marketing in January 2006. Its trade name is Revlimid. It is mainly used for Guxu hyperplastic syndrome (MDS) subtype and (MM) with 5q deletion (gap gene deletion of the fifth pair of chromatid long arm).
