Copper bromide is an effective bromination reagent, which can act on a variety of functional compounds. Such as the realization of the carbonyl ortho-methylene bromide reaction. When other methylene groups, such as steroidal compounds, are present in the substrate, copper bromide can recognize the carbonyl group position and selectively achieve the carbonyl ortho-bromide reaction.
