     Used as an intermediate in organic synthesis for the production of octadecane quaternary ammonium salts and various additives, such as thickeners for cationic lubricants, mineral processing agents, pesticides and asphalt emulsifiers, fabric antistatic agents, softeners, wetting agents and waterproofing agents, surfactants, fungicides, color couplers for color films, and corrosion inhibitors for oil refining units. By combining octadecylamine with ethylene oxide in a molar ratio of 1:2 and reacting at 150-190 ℃, octadecyl diethanolamine can be obtained with a yield of nearly 80% [10213-78-2]. Octadecyl diethanolamine is a non-ionic antistatic agent that can be used for polypropylene, polystyrene, and ABS resins.
