Retinoic acid, with the molecular formula C20H28O2, is an intermediate product of vitamin A metabolism in the body. It mainly affects bone growth and promotes metabolic effects such as epithelial cell proliferation, differentiation, and keratinolysis. It is used to treat acute promyelocytic leukemia, acne vulgaris, psoriasis, ichthyosis, lichen planus, pityriasis rubra, follicular keratosis, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma and other diseases.

Retinoic acid is yellow crystalline powder. Retinoic acid easily dissolved in dissolved in carbinol, ethanol and retinoic acid also dissolved in vegetable oil and lipid. Retinoic acid instability exposed in light and caloricr, easily absorbing moisture and metamorphosed in water.
