Sugarcane is a perennial herb, rich in water, sugar and many vitamins, fats, mineral elements and other components. Studies have shown that sugarcane is rich in polyphenols, which are one of the main active ingredients.

Sugarcane polyphenols are classified as "generally regarded as safe" substances in the United States; allowed to be used as food ingredients in the European Union; managed as common food in Australia and New Zealand, and has used as food ingredients in Taiwan.

In Japan, sugarcane polyphenols are used in food products to remove odor, improve taste and antioxidant.  What’s more, phenolic compounds have antioxidant, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activities, as well as inhibitory activities against skin aging-related enzymes. Sugarcane polyphenols are also used in cosmetics.
