Tervalic anhydride is a metabolite of the biprodrug of ganciclovir (6-dGCV-DPiv).
Trimethylacetic anhydride is used as an acylation and esterification reagent, and it participates in the acylation and esterification reactions with aniline and phenol. Trimethylacetic anhydride is also used in solid phase oligonucleotide synthesis and kinetic resolution of racemated 2-hydroxy-γ-butanolactone with diphenylacetic acid for the production of cyano4, n-tert-butoxycarbopiperidine, and also used in solid phase oligonucleotide synthesis.
