First Aid Measures | Back to Contents | 【Ingestion】
Do not induce vomiting - following ingestion and/or prior to gastric evacuation, immediately dilute with 4 to 8 ounces (120 to 240 ml) of milk or water (not to exceed 15 ml/kg in a child). | 【Inhalation】
Move patient to fresh air. Monitor for respiratory distress. If cough or difficulty breathing develops, evaluate for respiratory tract irritation, bronchitis, or pneumonitis. Administer oxygen and assist ventilation as required. Treat bronchospasm with beta2 agonist and corticosteroid aerosols. | 【Skin】
Remove contaminated clothing and wash exposed area thoroughly with soap and water. A physician should examine the area if irritation or pain persists. Treat dermal irritation or burns with standard topical therapy. Patients developing dermal hypersensitivity reactions may require treatment with systemic or topical corticosteroids or antihistamines. | 【Eyes】
Irrigate exposed eyes with copious amounts of tepid water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation, pain, swelling, lacrimation, or photophobia persist, the patient should be seen in a health care facility. |
Handling and Storage | Back to Contents | 【Storage】
Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Keep away from sources of ignition. Keep container closed when not in use. Flammables-area. Refrigerator (approx 4 C). Store protected from moisture. Store away from heat, oxidizing agents, acids, alkalies, and sunlight. | 【Handling】
All chemicals should be considered hazardous. Avoid direct physical contact. Use appropriate, approved safety equipment. Untrained individuals should not handle this chemical or its container. Handling should occur in a chemical fume hood. |
Hazards Identification | Back to Contents | 【Inhalation】
Respiratory tract irritation with potential chemical pneumonitis or noncardiogenic pulmonary edema may occur. | 【Skin】
Dermal irritation or burns may be seen. | 【Eyes】
Eye, nose, and throat irritation may be seen. | 【Ingestion】
Esophageal or gi tract irritation or burns may occur. | 【Hazards】
This material detonates at 428F or more; ignites by impact. Emits highly toxic fumes of bromides when heated to decomposition. Reacts vigorously with oxidizing materials. Becomes shock-sensitive when mixed with chloropicrin. Unstable, avoid heat, flame, shock, and other chemicals | 【EC Risk Phrase】

328 | 【Fire Fighting】
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing. Move container from fire area if you can do it without risk. Do not get water inside container. Cool containers that are exposed to flames with water from the side until well after fire is out. Withdraw immediately in case of rising sound from venting safety device or any discoloration of tank due to fire. Isolate for 1/2 mile in all directions if tank car or truck is involved in fire.To extinguish fire use water, foam, carbon dioxide, or dry chemical. | 【Fire Potential】
HIGHLY FLAMMABLE: Will be easily ignited by heat, sparks or flames. |
Accidental Release Measures | Back to Contents | 【Small spills/leaks】
Keep sparks, flames, and other sources of ignition away. Keep material out of water sources and sewers. Build dikes to contain flow as necessary. Attempt to stop leak if without undue personnel hazard. Use water spray to knock-down vapors. |
Stability and Reactivity | Back to Contents | 【Incompatibilities】
Peroxides, caustics, copper, copper alloys, mercury, silver, trichloronitromethane, dinitrogen tetraoxide, nitric acid, bromine trifluoride, uranium hexafluoride, sulfur dichloride, dichlorohydrantoin, sulfuric acid + nitric acid, silver perchlorate, iron chlorides, sulfur dioxide. | 【Stability】
When propargyl bromide is diluted with 20-30% by weight of toluene, its explosive properties are practically eliminated. | 【Decomposition】
Carbon monoxide, irritating and toxic fumes and gases, carbon dioxide, hydrogen bromide. | 【Combustion Products】
