The protein has a calculated MW of 20.2 kDa. The protein migrates as 25-30 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

白细胞介素33(IL-33)被称为C9orf26、DKFZp586H0523、DVS27、NF-HEV、NFEHEV、RP11-575C20.2,是一种属于IL-1超家族的细胞因子。IL-33诱导辅助性T细胞、肥大细胞、嗜酸性粒细胞和嗜碱性粒细胞产生2型细胞因子。IL-33通过与受体ST2(又名IL1RL1)和IL-1受体辅助蛋白(IL1RAP)相互作用,激活NF-κB和MAP激酶信号通路中的细胞内分子,驱动极化Th2细胞产生2型细胞因子(如IL-5和IL-13),从而介导其生物学效应。在体内,IL-33诱导IL-4、IL-5和IL-13的表达,并导致粘膜器官的严重病理变化。
