(1)叶黄素是眼睛中黄斑的主要成分，对老年性视网膜黄斑退化（AMD）有预防作用，改善老年人视力衰退。 　　
(2)预防老年性黄斑变性所导致的盲眼病。　　
(3)眼睛中的叶黄素对紫外线有过滤作用，有保护由日光、电脑等所发射的紫外线所导致的对眼睛和视力的伤害作用。 　
(4)降低白内障的发生率。
