4.1.2 General procedure for the synthesis of tetraaryl-substituted benzenes 4a-f and 6a-f
General procedure: An oven-dried and argon-flushed pressure tube was charged with 1,2,4,5-tetrachlorobenzene or 1,2,3,5-tetrachlorobenzene (0.25 mmol), Pd₂(dba)₃ (1.25 mol%), cataCXium A (5.0 mol%), boronic acid (1.75 mmol) and K₃PO₄ (1.9 mmol) followed by anhydrous toluene (4.0 mL). The tube was sealed with a Teflon valve and the reaction mixture was stirred at 110 °C for 24 h. The cooled reaction mixture was diluted with water and extracted with DCM. The combined organic layers were dried (Na₂SO₄), filtered and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by column chromatography.
