(a) 3-Chloro-5-methyl-1,2-benzisoxazole. The title compound (0.81 g, 71%) was obtained from 3-hydroxy-5-methyl-1,2-benzisoxazole (1.02 g) by similar reactions and treatments as in example 26(a).
