Steps:

2.1 2.1. 1-(2-Bromophenyl)-3-(dimethylamino)-2-propen-1-one (1)

To a solution of 1-(2-bromo-phenyl)-ethanone (25?g, 0.126?mol) of in 250?ml toluene, DMFDMA (18.71?g, 0.157?mol) of was added dropwise under nitrogen.
The reaction mixture was refluxed for 16?h.
The solution was allowed to cool down to the room temperature and the solvent was removed by rotary evaporation.
Silica gel chromatography using hexanes and ethyl acetate (1:1) was performed to give 29.9?g pure colorless product. Yield: 94%.
