To a stirred solution of the product of Preparation 32 (1.7 g, 7.8 mmol) in 40 mL THF at 0°C was was added slowly dropwise a 1 M solution of LAH in THF (17 mL, 17 mmol). The mixture was allowed to slowly warm to RT then refluxed for 2 hr. The mixture was cool to 0°C and the reaction quenched with MeOH added slowly dropwise. The mixture was diluted with water and extracted with chloroform. The resulting emulsion was filtered through diatomaceous earth and the filtrate layers separated. The organic extract was washed with water, dried (MgS04) and concentrated to give 1.1 g of an oil. MS (m/e, %): 202 (M+, 100).
