2.4. Experimental procedure for the synthesis of aryl/heteroaryl substituted vinyl pyridines via OHCR
General procedure: Aryl/heteroaryl boronic acid (1.01 mmol) is added to a stirred solution of 0.5 mol% Pd-PEPPSI (3) complex, 2-vinyl pyridine (1.0 mmol), and oxidant (1.2 mmol) in a dried 25 mL of the round bottom flask that contains 5 mL of water. The catalytic reaction was performed at room temperature for 1 to 2 h in the open air. The progress of the reaction was monitored by TLC, further, the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate twice. The combined organic solution was collected and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. Further, the solvent is evaporated using rotavapor to obtain a crude product. Finally, obtained crude mass was purified using column chromatography using 10-20% ethyl acetate and hexane.
