General procedure: To a solution of 4-chloropyridine-2-carboxylic acid (18, 400 mg, 2.54 mmol), HOBt (686 mg, 5.08 mmol) and 1-methyl piperazine (0.309 ml, 2.79 mmol) in CH2Cl2 was added EDC (584 mg, 3.05 mmol).
After stirring for 30 min at ambient temperature, the reaction mixture was diluted with saturated NaHCO3 and extracted with EtOAc (3 times).
The combined organic layer was washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure.
The residue was purified by silica gel flash column chromatography (CH2Cl2/MeOH, 1/0 to 9/1) to afford the titled compound as a brown oil (506 mg, 83%).
