Step 2: A solution of 3,5-dibromo-2-methoxypyrazine (45 g, 0.167 mol) and NH₂NH₂.H₂O (15.7g, 0.252mol, 80%) in EtOH (250 mL) was stirred at 70°C for 5 hours. The mixture was concentrated under vacuum, the residue was washed with water, filtered and dried to give 5-bromo-3-hydrazinyl-2-methoxypyrazine (32 g, Yield: 86.9%) .
