To a solution of l-(7-nitro-3,4-dihydroquinolin-l(2H)-yl)ethanone (309 mg, 1.40 mmol) in methanol (10 mL) was added palladium on carbon. The flask was evacuated and purged with hydrogen (3x), maintaining a hydrogen atmosphere with a balloon. The reaction was allowed to stir at room temperature overnight. The reaction was filtered over Celite and washed with dichloromethane. The filtrate was concentrated and dried under high vacuum for 2 hours before using directly in the next step.
