General procedure: A 1 mmol portion of the suitable N-arylalkyl-piperazine-N-carboxylic acid tert-butyl esters (15-20) was dissolved in 10 mL of anhydrous CH2Cl2 and 2mL of CF3COOH were added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 2 h at room temperature. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was washed three times with a saturated solution of NaHCO3. The organic layer was dried with Na2SO4, and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure yielding a substance which was used as such for the next reaction
