N-BENZYLPIPERIDONE (2 g, HCI salt, hydrate) was stirred with THF (20 mL), concentrated to dryness, and placed under high vac. The residue was diluted in THF (20 mL), and methyllithium was added (2.5 eq of 1. 6N in ET20) via syringe. After stirring for 3 hr, the mixture was concentrated in vacuo, diluted with water, extracted with CH2CI2, and dried over NA2SO4. Filtration and concentrating in vacuo gave the desired product (50%, MH+ = 205).
