Sodium hydroxide (75.5 g, 1.89 mol) was added to N,N-dimethylformamide (1 L).After cooling to 0°C, benzyl alcohol (163 g, 1.51 mol) was added and stirred for 15 min.3,4-Difluoronitrobenzene (200 g, 1.26 mol) was added dropwise and stirring was continued at room temperature for 2 h.3L of water was added, stirred for 1 h, filtered, and the cake was washed with water and dried to give 304 g of a yellow solid, yield 98%.
