18.1 Step 1: Synthesis of tert-butyl 2-isopropylhydrazine-1-carboxylic acid
Tert-butyl hydrazinoformate (20.0g, 0.151mol),Acetone (9.26g, 0.16mol),Acetic acid (2 mL), magnesium sulfate (10.0 g), and sodium triacetoxyborohydride (96.64 g, 0.456 mol) were added to dichloromethane (100 mL). The reaction was carried out at room temperature overnight. The reaction was monitored by TLC for completeness, filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the product (25 g, yield: 95.6%).
