Step 1 : 1-bromo-3-(isopropylthio)benzene2-Bromopropane (5.46 mL, 58.2 mmol) was added dropwise into a mixture of 3- bromothiophenol (6.29 mL, 52.9 mmol) and K2COs (10.96 g, 79.3 mmol) in anhydrous DMF (100 mL), and then stirred at RT overnight. The reaction mixture was diluted with water (200 mL) and extracted with TBE (3x150 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried (MgS04) and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound as a colourless oil (12.44 g, quantitative), used without further purification, UPLC/MS (max plot) 100%; Rt 2.23 min; ( S+) no signal.
