Oxalyl chloride (8.64 mL, 99.1 mmol) was added to a solution of cyclohex-l-enecarboxylic acid (10 g, 79.3 mmol) in CH₂C1₂ (159 mL). One drop of DMF was added to this solution, and the resulting solution was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The solvent was concentrated to give cyclohex-l-enecarbonyl chloride as an oil (11.5g, 100%).
