Steps:
4 Step 4: Synthesis of 1-methyl-4-(4-nitronaphthalen-1-yl)piperazine (7-9) :
To the DMF solution (10ml) of 1-fluoro-4-nitronaphthalene (0.38g, 1.9mmol), and 1-methylpiperazine (0.298 mg, 2.98mmol), K2CO3 (0.790g, 5.7 mmol) was added. The resulting reaction mixture was heated to 100 °C in a sealed tube for 16 hours. TLC and LCMS of the reaction indicated complete consumption of starting material. The reaction mixture was evaporated to get crude material, which was purified by using isolera columns chromatography to afford 1-methyl-4-(4-nitronaphthalen-1-yl)piperazine (0.52g, 1.97mmol, 96.47% yield).
