1 Synthesis of methyl 2-(2-oxopiperazine-1-yl)acetate (3)

Trifluoroacetic acid (5.0 mL) was added to 4-(2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl)-3-oxopiperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.45 g, 1.8 mmol).The mixture was stirred overnight and concentrated to give a white solid.Methyl 2-(2-oxopiprazin-1-yl)acetate trifluoroacetate (0.30 g, 91%).
