To a solution of 10.0 mL (62.8 mmol, 1 eq) of 2,3,3-trimethylindolenine and 15.2 mL (157.2 mmol, 2.5 eq) of 1-iodopropane,Was heated to reflux for 5 hours. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, and then fuming ethyl acetate was added thereto to form crystals, which were then filtered and dried under reduced pressure to obtain a solid. (12.7 g, 100%).
