Steps:
A solution 3-tert-butyl-trimethylsilanylethynyl benzene (Intermediate 102, 0.47g, 2. 04mmol) in methanol (20mL) was treated with potassium carbonate (2.8g, 20. 2mmol) and the resulting reaction mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 3 days. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with water and brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered and evaporated in vacuo to an oil. Flash column chromatography over silica gel (230-400mesh) using 10% ethyl acetate in hexane as the eluent afforded the title compound as a light yellow oil (0.125g, 39%). 'H NMR (300 MHz, CDCIs) : 8 7.40 (d, 1H, J= 1. 5Hz), 7.39-7. 10 (m, 3H), 2.91 (s, 1H), 1.18 (s, 9H).
