General procedure for the synthesis of 1,4 dihydropyridines
General procedure: aldehyde (0.01 moles), ethyl acetoacetate (0.025 moles) and ammonium acetate (0.02 moles) were refluxed at 100 C under solvent free conditions for 2-5 h employing 0.05 g of cellulose sulfuric acid, the reaction was monitored by TLC. The reaction mixture was poured in to a ice cold water and extracted with ethyl acetate and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. Purified through column chromatography and recrystalized in ethanol
