with potassium hydrogencarbonate in dimethyl sulfoxide at 60; for 1.5 h;Inert atmosphere;

Steps:

To a solution of compound A0061-1 (1 g,5.43 mmol) in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) (25 ml) was added potassium hydrogen carbonate (KHCO₃) (0.54 g, 5.43 mmol) followed by dibromomethane (0.4 ml) and the mixture was heated at 60 ⁰C for 1.5 hours under nitrogen. The reaction was cooled and poured into water (50 ml) . The mixture was extracted with ether. The organic layers were combined, dried over anhydrous Na₂SO₄ and concentrated to yield a crude oil which was further purified by column chromatography on silica gel (petroleum etheriethyl acetate=5:l) to yield compound A0061-2. (580 mg, yield: 55%, NMR confirmed) as a white solid.
