4 Preparation of 2-pinacol borate-7-tert-butylpyrene
Under argon, a catalyst [Ir(COD)Cl]2 (60 mg) was added to a 100 mL three-Ligand dtbpy (105mg) and a small amount of associated pinacolato ester and 7.5mL hexane dissolved, stirring vigorously for about 5min until the solution becomes blue-purple,Then, 2.58 g (10 mmol) of 2-tert-butylpyrene and 2.79 g (11 mmol) of boronic acid 30mL n-hexane. 80 °C oil bath for 24 h, the reaction mixture was passed through a short silica gel column to remove the residual metal iridium catalyst. After removal of the solvent by flash chromatography, 3.38 g of a white solid was isolated in 88% yield.
