2.3. General procedure for the synthesis of pyanopyrazoles

General procedure: To a mixture of hydrazine hydrate (80% assay) (1 mmol) andethyl acetoacetate (1 equiv), ethanol (10 mL) was added and stirredvigorously for 5 min to make a homogenous solution. Then aldehyde/ketone (1 equiv), malononitrile (1 equiv), and ANL (20 mg)were added to the solution. After stirring for the specified time at30 C, the starting materials got converted into the desired productand precipitated as solid. After completion, as evident from TLC, thereaction mixture was diluted with 10 mL of warm ethanol (60 C) todissolve the solid products. The suspension was centrifuged to separatethe lipase and the supernatant liquid was decanted from thecentrifuge tube. The liquid, so obtained, was concentrated undervacuum to make a saturated solution. Upon standing the solutionovernight resulted in precipitation of the product which was furtherrecrystallized from ethanol to achieve the pure product.
