6-chloro-7-cyclopropyl-4-methoxythieno[3,2-d]pyrimidine (2 g, 8.25 mmol) was taken in 12 N HCl (6 mL, 72.5 mmol) and heated the reaction mixture at 70° C. for 40 minutes. After cooling it to the room temperature, water (15 mL) was added to this pale brown slurry and mixed properly. The precipitate was filtered off and washed it with water and heptanes. Upon drying it for overnight at 40° C. afforded a light yellow solid (1.6 g, 90% yield)
