General procedure: In a 50 mL Schlenk flask under a flow of dry argon the corresponding nitro-compound (1.0 mmol) and 0.05 g of Pd/C (10%) were placed. Afterwards, 25 mL of degassed methanol was added. The system was washed three times with hydrogen. The hydrogenation was conducted with the help of a glass burette under atmospheric pressure. After 3 equiv of hydrogen was consumed, the mixture was stirred for a day at 20 °C (controlled by TLC). The reaction mixture was filtered through a Celite pad (2-3 cm). The Celite was washed three times with methanol. The solvent of the filtrate was removed under reduced pressure. In many cases the compounds isolated did not demand further purification, however, some of examples were purified by preparative chromatography (silica gel, heptane/EtOAc) or recrystallized from appropriate solvent.
