Next, 28.4 g (0.26 mol) of 2,6-lutidine (2,6-dimethylpyridine, C₇H₉N) and 44.4 g (0.16 mol) of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (CF₃SO₃H) were added to 450 mL of a dichloromethane (CH₂Cl₂) solution containing 29.6 g (0.13 mol) of compound A3 (6-bromonaphthol, 6-bromo-naphthalen-2-ol, C₁₀H₇BrO). The reaction solution was stirred at 35° C. for one hour. The reaction solution was then purified by silica gel chromatography (eluate: toluene). Thus, 46.0 g of compound (74) was obtained (yield: 98%).
