Generalprocedure for the synthesis of pyridinium salts (6-24)

General procedure: The pyridine derivative 5a-h (1.5 equiv) was added to a solution of halogenated compound 4A-H (1 equiv) in ethyl acetate. The mixture was stirred at reflux for 24 h. After cooling the reaction medium to room temperature, the obtained precipitate was filtered, washed with ethyl acetate to give the corresponding pure salt which was used further in cycloaddition reactions
