8 Example 8: Preparation of 1-sulfanylmethylcyclopropylacetic acid
Take a 250 ml three-necked bottle and sequentially add 10.0 g (62.41 mmol) of the cyclopropanated intermediate compound of formula 4 and 70 ml of ethanol.Stir and cool under ice water bath, when the temperature of the system drops to 0 - 5 °C,46.80 ml (93.62 mmol) of a 2 mol/l potassium hydroxide aqueous solution was slowly added dropwise.After the dropwise addition, the reaction was allowed to stand at room temperature, and the reaction was kept for 3 hours, and then the ethanol was removed under reduced pressure.The aqueous phase was slowly adjusted to a pH of about 2 with a hydrochloric acid solution having a concentration of 2 mol/l, and extracted with ethyl acetate (40 ml × 3).The combined organic phases were washed once with 50 mL brine. Recrystallization from n-heptaneThe white solid was 8.49 g, the HPLC purity was 99.3%, and the yield was 93%.
