General Procedure for Synthesis of Primary Amines 2
General procedure: A reaction mixture of 2-(1-tosylalkyl)phenol 1 (0.50 mmol), 28% aqueous ammonia (5.0mmol, 0.77 mL) in tetrahydrofuran (5 mL) was stirred at 40 °C for 16 h to 48 h. Then water (20mL) was added to the mixture. The organic layer was separated and the aqueous layer was extracted with dichloromethane (30 mL×3). The combined organic layer was dried by anhydrous sodium sulfate, concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel using petroleum ether and ethyl acetate to give the corresponding product primary amines 2.
