2,2'-Bifuran-5,5'-dicarbaldehyde synthesis

7synthesis methods
-

Yield:5905-01-1 98 %Chromat.

Reaction Conditions:

with carbon monoxide;palladium on activated charcoal;potassium hydrogencarbonate in acetonitrile at 75; for 6 h;Reagent/catalyst;

Steps:

2.3. Synthesis of bifurfural through reductive coupling of 5-bromofurfuralwith CO balloon

5-Bromofurfural (35.0 mg, 0.2 mmol), Pd/C (47 mg, 20 mol) andKHCO3 (50.0 mg, 0.5 mmol) were successively added in CH3CN (2 mL)in a glass tube. The reaction tube was evacuated and backfilled with CO(three times, balloon) and then heated to 75C with a CO balloon understirring for 6 h. After the reaction, the reaction mixture was cooled downto room temperature and carefully vented to drain excess CO in a fumehood. The yield of bifurfural and the conversion of 5-bromofurfural werequantitatively analyzed by HPLC.
