Reference Example G 38 2,2-difluoropropionic acid A solution of ethyl 2,2-difluoropropionate (1.2 g, 8.8 mmol) in ethanol (26 mL) was added to 2N aqueous sodium hydroxide (26 mL) and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 14 hours. The reaction mixture was acidified with 2N hydrochloric acid and extracted with ether. The extracts were dried, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (0.90 g, yield 92%). oil ¹H-NMR(CDCl₃) d: 1.85 (3H, t, J= 19.0Hz), 6.21 (1H, br s).
