To a solution of 1-(3,5-difluorophenyl)ethanone (2.00 g, 12.8 mmol) in THF (20 mL) at 0-5° C., methylmagnesium bromide in THF (3.0 M; 5.12 mL, 15.4 mmol) was added dropwise. The mixture was stirred at 0-5° C. for 1 h, then quenched with brine, extracted with EtOAc (2 times). The combined organic phases were washed with water and brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the sub-title compound as a colorless oil (2.12 g, 96.1%).
