19.8 g (67.3 mmol) of intermediate (6), 28.5 g (100 mmol) of 4-bromo-1-iodobenzene, 3.8 g (3.37 mmol) of Pd (PPh3) 4, 2M sodium carbonate 67 mL (134 mmol), A mixture of 224 mL of toluene and 112 mL of ethanol was stirred at reflux for 12 h. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, diluted with 200 mL of toluene and washed with water. The organic layer was separated, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated. The concentrated mixture was purified by column chromatography to give 15.3 g (yield: 70.3%) of a solid compound (intermediate (7)).
