40.2 Step 2- Synthesis of 2-(4-chloro-2-methoxyphenoxy) acetic acid

[0347] To a stirred solution of tert-butyl 2-(4-chloro-2-methoxyphenoxy)acetate (0.400 g, 1.4 mmol, 1.0 equiv) in DCM (10 mL),was added TFA (03 mL) and the resultant reaction mixture was stirred at RT for 1 h under nitrogen atmosphere. Reaction was monitored by TLC and LCMS. After completion of reaction, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. Crude compound was crystallized in hexane (10 mL) and diethyl ether, filtered off and dried under vacuum to obtain 2-(4-chloro-2-methoxyphenoxy)acetic acid (0.300 g, 99 % Yield) as a brown solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 12.98 (br. s., 1H) 7.03 (br. s., 1H) 6.79 - 6.92 (m, 2 H) 4.66 (s, 2 H) 3.33 (s, 3 H).
