Yield:551002-42-7 90%

Reaction Conditions:

with iodine;sodium hydrogencarbonate in water at 20; for 24 h;

Steps:

4.2.3 Iodophenols 2; general procedure

General procedure: To a stirred solution of phenol 1 (20mmol) in H2O (40mL), NaHCO3 (2.2g, 26mmol or 4.4g, 52mmol for 2b,e), I2 (5.6g, 22mmol or 11.2g, 44mmol for 2b,e) were added. The reaction flask was closed with rubber septa, in which a needle was inserted and reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24h. Then a saturated aqueous solutions of Na2S2O3 (40mL) was added and the mixture was stirred for 1h. The reaction product was extracted with CH2Cl2 or Et2O (2×100mL). The combined organic layers were washed with saturated aqueous solutions of Na2S2O3 (50mL), H2O (2×70mL), dried (MgSO4), filtered and solvent was removed under vacuum to a constant weight.
