2-(ALLYLOXY)-3-METHOXYBENZENECARBALDEHYDE synthesis

2synthesis methods
-

Yield:23343-06-8 100%

Reaction Conditions:

with potassium carbonate in acetone at 50;Williamson Ether Synthesis;

Steps:

Step 2: 2-(Allyloxy)-4,6-dimethoxybenzaldehyde (3b)

General procedure: To a solution of the product from step 1 (1.00 g, 5.5 mmol) and allyl bromide (0.71 mL, 8.2 mmol) in acetone (10 mL) was added K2CO3 (1.51 g, 11.0 mmol). The mixture was heated to 50°C until the starting material was completely consumed, cooled to ambient temperature and hydrolysed by addition of a semisaturated aqueous solution of NaCl (20 mL). Ethyl acetate (10 mL) was added, the organic layer was separated and the aqueous layer was extracted twice with ethyl acetate (20 mL each). The combined organic extracts were dried with MgSO4, filtered and evaporated. The residue was purified by chromatography on silica, using hexane-MTBE mixtures of increasing polarity as eluent, to furnish the title compound 3b (0.93 g, 4.2 mmol, 76%).
