Under electromagnetic stirring, into a 250 mL round-bottomed flask, isatoic anhydride 2a (5000 mg, 30.6 mmol), p-anisidine (3774 mg, 30.6 mmol), and finally water (80 mL) were added. After reacting for 9h in an oil bath at 80°C, a brown solid precipitated out. After suction filtration and drying, 7405 mg of brown solid of compound 3a was obtained (yield 99%).
