To a solution of compound b (3.4 g, 18 mmol) in DCM was added Br2(l) (3 g, 18 mmol) at 0° C. in a 2-hour period. The reaction solution was then quenched with a Na2S2O3 (2.3 g, 63 mmol) aqueous solution. The organic and aqueous phases were separated. The organic phase solution was concentrated and the resultant residue was washed with Ethyl acetate to give compound c (3.4 g, 18 mmol, 100%).
