b) 2-(Benzyloxy)pyridin-3-amineTo a solution of 2-(benzyloxy)-3-nitropyridine (Preparation 46a, 0.20 g, 0.87 mmol) in butyl acetate (2 mL) was added 5% platinum on carbon (sulfided, 0.005 g, 0.001 mmol). The mixture was evacuated, hydrogen was introduced and the mixture was stirred and heated to 60 °C under an atmosphere of hydrogen. After 20 hours, the mixture was filtered through Celite washing the filter cake with ethyl acetate. The combined filtrate and washings were evaporated and the residue was purified by flash chromatography (0-20% ethyl acetate in hexane) to give the title compound (0.17 g, 95%) as a yellow oil.LRMS (m/z): 201 (M+1 )+. 1H NMR δ (300 MHz, CDCI3): 3.81 (br s, 2H), 5.41 (s, 2H), 6.75 (dd, 1 H), 6.91 (dd, 1 H), 7.28-7.43 (m, 3H), 7.43-7.51 (m, 2H), 7.59 (dd, 1 H).
