Steps:

5.1 Step 1: Synthesis of 2- (glycidyloxy)phenylphenol(5-1)

Under a nitrogen atmosphere, 209.0 g of toluene and 53.0 g of DMSO were added to a 2 L reaction flask, and the temperature was raised to 40°C .On the other hand, a solution prepared by dissolving 100.0 g (587.5 mmol) of 2-phenylphenol and 652.3 g (7.05 mol) of epichlorohydrin in another reactor was injected into the above reaction solution. On the other hand, 0.708 g (6.4 mmol) of tetramethylammonium chloride, 16 g of purified water and 47.0 g (0.57 mol) of NaOH were dissolved in another reactor.The solution was poured into the preceding reaction solution, heated to 100 °C and refluxed for 1 hour.After completion of the reaction, the reaction solution is cooled to 40 ° C, and 60 ml of hexane, 300 ml of methylene chloride and 300 ml of 1N HCl are added, followed by stirring and separation.The mixture was washed twice with 250 ml of purified water and the organic layer was concentrated to obtain 2- (glycidyloxy) phenylphenol (5-1) as a target compound [yield 90%]
