Butane-2-sulfonyl chloride (0.800 g, 5.10 mmol) was added carefully to a cooled solution of ammonium hydroxide solution (35%, 5.00 mL) and the reaction mixture was stirred vigorously for 4 hours. The solvent was evaporated in vacuo. The resulting residue was triturated with acetone. The filtrate was evaporated in vacuo and the residue triturated with EtOAc/heptane (1:1) to yield the title compound as a clear oil (0.487 g, 70%):1H NMR (400 MHz; in CDCl3): δ 0.95 (t, 3H), 1.20 (t, 3H), 1.35 (m, 1H), 1.90 (m, 1H), 2.75 (m, 1H), 6.60 (br, 2H).
