103.2 Synthesis of 2-(difluoromethyl)benzoic acid:
A mixture of methyl 2-(difluoromethyl)benzoate (7.0 g, 38 mmol) and 10% aq. NaOH (100 mL) in MeOH (50 mL) was heated at reflux for 30 min. The pH was adjusted to 4 the addition of 3N HC1. The resulting solid was collected by filtration, rinsed with H2O and dried to give 2-(difluoromethyl)benzoic acid (6.0 g, 93 % yield).
